Balcony Tomatoes: A Success Story
August 15, 2025 by AnnaWho says you need a backyard to grow your own food? This summer, I managed to harvest over 40 cherry tomatoes from a single pot on my 3rd-floor balcony.
The secret lies in choosing the right determinate variety and ensuring consistent calcium intake to prevent blossom end rot. Container gardening requires frequent watering, especially on hot days, as pots dry out much faster than garden soil.
Use a 15-liter pot minimum per plant, and don't forget to prune the "suckers" if you're growing an indeterminate variety. Fresh balcony tomatoes taste infinitely better than store-bought ones!
