The Secret to Blooming Orchids

Many beginners throw away their orchids after the first bloom drops, assuming the plant has died. This breaks my heart! Phalaenopsis orchids are surprisingly resilient if you understand their root system.

Let's talk about bark mix, transparent pots, and why ice cubes are actually a terrible idea for watering. In the wild, orchids grow on trees, not in soil. Their roots need air to breathe. Using a specialized bark mix and a pot with drainage holes on the sides is crucial.

To trigger a new bloom, expose the plant to a slight temperature drop at night (around 15°C) for a couple of weeks in autumn. Be patient, and soon you'll see a new flower spike emerging!
